Ibraheem “Labaeka” Abdulhameed, Special Assistant on Artiste Matters to Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, has stepped down from his position. The Islamic singer and cleric announced his resignation through an Instagram post on Thursday, September 12.
In his resignation letter addressed to Governor AbdulRazaq, Labaeka cited a lack of clear duties and an inability to effectively fulfill his role as reasons for his departure. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity but noted that without a defined schedule, he struggled to perform his responsibilities.
Labaeka wrote, “I am resigning with a sense of humility and appreciation for the chance to serve as your Special Assistant on Artiste Matters. Despite being in this role for 1 year and 7 months, I have not been given a clear duty schedule and have not been able to contribute as expected.
Given that my appointment is based on public trust, I cannot justify continuing to receive a salary without fulfilling my duties. This is against my principles as an Islamic cleric, and it has weighed heavily on me.
I request that my salary be stopped immediately. I remain grateful for the trust you placed in me and hope to find a future opportunity where I can fully contribute to our state’s development.”
