Omotola Jalade Ekeinde Opens Up About Health Scare and Recovery

Nollywood legend Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has shared her harrowing experience with a life-threatening illness that led to multiple trips to the emergency room.

The 46-year-old actress revealed in an Instagram post that she had been rushed to the hospital three times within a week due to severe back and chest pain.

“I couldn’t sit up,” she recounted. “I had already been to the ER twice that week for intense back and chest pain that would hit hard and then ease the next day. Doctors initially thought it was high blood pressure or severe acid reflux.”

Despite initial treatments, including drips and medication, her condition worsened. After a particularly grueling night of vomiting, Omotola experienced unbearable stomach pain, prompting a third emergency hospital visit.

“This time, I was immediately taken for a CT scan, ultrasound, and MRI,” she explained. “The doctor came in and said, ‘You need emergency surgery to remove your gallbladder.’ It was so severely dilated that the medical team couldn’t believe I wasn’t in even greater pain.”

Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and the actress is now fully recovered. Reflecting on her journey, she encouraged her followers to cherish life no matter the challenges.

Omotola, a celebrated figure in Nollywood, has continuously broken barriers. In 2018, she became a member of the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, joining the ranks of global film industry icons.

Her story is a powerful reminder to prioritize health and embrace resilience in the face of adversity.
