Davido has revealed that he almost walked away from music before the release of his collaboration with Omah Lay, With You.
In a viral clip making the rounds, the singer admitted he was close to stepping back after more than a decade in the industry. What he didn’t expect was that the track would turn out to be one of the most celebrated songs on his album — a moment that gave him fresh energy and a renewed sense of purpose.
“We thank God,” he said. “After 13 or 14 years, for me to still have a song like this… people usually get these kinds of songs at the beginning of their careers or halfway through. I was even preparing to bow out, but then God gave me this. It added more life to me.”
The hitmaker, whose career has been defined by global recognition and countless chart-toppers, credited the success of With You as a turning point that reminded him of the bond he shares with his fans and why he continues to create.
Meanwhile, Burna Boy also gave fans a peek into his beginnings, sharing how his stage name came about. In a lighthearted chat with tennis legend Roger Federer, the Grammy winner explained that the name “Burna” was born out of his childhood fascination with comic books and superheroes — a playful identity that stuck and eventually grew into the global brand he carries today.
