Renowned Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson, shared his preference for dating Nigerian women residing abroad rather than those within the country.
He explained that the dating scene in Nigeria is more competitive, which is why he finds women abroad more appealing.
Speaking on the Menisms Podcast, Egbuson highlighted the advantages of being in a relationship with Nigerian women living overseas.
He expressed, “From my personal experience, I believe dating a Nigerian girl abroad offers a better experience compared to those here. Nigerian girls in London, Canada, or America constitute a minority in the dating pool there, providing more options.”
He further elaborated, “When an abroad-based Nigerian lady shows interest, you become a prized catch, and she’s genuinely invested in the relationship. However, in Nigeria, women have numerous options, even those who may not fit the conventional beauty standards.”
Meanwhile, Egbuson confidently asserted his status as the foremost actor on the African continent.
He highlighted his consistent 15-year acting career, his influence on young actors, and his role in establishing the category of leading male young actors in the movie industry.
According to Timini, when he entered Nollywood, there were limited lead roles for young men, mostly dominated by older actors or female leads. He stated, “I’ve been acting continuously for 15 years. I’ve never taken a break or fallen off in that time. I genuinely believe I paved the way for many new-generation actors. I also feel I pioneered the category of lead young male actors.”
Considering his achievements, Timini confidently proclaimed, “When you add up all my accomplishments, I believe I stand as the most prominent actor in Africa.”
