While discussing his foundation’s ongoing efforts to support orphanages and combat drug abuse, the singer made a bold statement—he doesn’t consider weed a hard drug.
In the conversation, Davido emphasized the growing problem of drug abuse among young people, stating the importance of helping addicts find their way to recovery. “Drug addiction is becoming a major issue,” he explained. “A lot of people are struggling, and it’s time to step up and make a difference.”
However, his stance sparked some controversy. Critics accused the artist of hypocrisy, highlighting his personal use of cannabis while advocating against drug abuse. Responding to these claims, Davido clarified his position, saying, “Yes, I smoke weed, but I don’t see it as a hard drug. My focus is on addressing the more dangerous substances that are destroying lives.”
