Kamala Harris, the US Vice President, expressed her honor at being endorsed as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. This follows President Joe Biden’s announcement on Sunday that he would not seek reelection, citing the best interests of the party and the country. Biden endorsed Harris, pledging his full support for her candidacy in the upcoming November 5 presidential election.

In her statement, Harris promised to “earn and win” the nomination, committing to uniting both the party and the nation to defeat Trump. She praised Biden for his exceptional leadership and decades of service, calling his legacy unmatched in modern American history.

“Serving as Vice President under Joe Biden has been a profound honor. I am deeply grateful to the President, Dr. Biden, and the entire Biden family,” Harris said. Reflecting on her relationship with Biden, she recalled stories from his late son, Beau, whom she knew during their time as Attorneys General of their respective states. She highlighted Biden’s honesty, integrity, compassion, commitment to faith, family, and country.

Harris emphasized Biden’s lifelong dedication to putting the American people first, describing his decision not to run as a selfless and patriotic act. She affirmed her resolve to secure the nomination and to continue engaging with Americans nationwide about the critical choices in the upcoming election.

“I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party and our nation to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda. With 107 days until Election Day, we will fight together, and we will win together,” Harris concluded.
