Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged the #EndBadGovernance protesters to halt their demonstrations. According to Naija News, Sanwo-Olu’s request was relayed by the state Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotosho, at Ojota Park on the second day of the nationwide protests.

Omotosho addressed the protesters, stating, “We have listened to your concerns and the governor acknowledges your grievances. It’s time to conclude the protest and return home.”

In a separate development, Governor Sanwo-Olu strongly condemned a recent call for the Igbo community to leave Lagos and the South-West. The controversial post, shared by @Lagospedia on X (formerly Twitter) on July 27, 2024, announced a planned #IgboMustGo protest from August 20 to 30, 2024.

Sanwo-Olu’s media aide, Gboyega Akosile, clarified that the governor and the Lagos State Government disapprove of the divisive and inflammatory rhetoric, emphasizing that Lagos is a welcoming home for all Nigerians, regardless of their ethnic background.

Sanwo-Olu described the post as a harmful attempt to create discord between the Yoruba and other groups, particularly those who have made Lagos their home. He urged Lagosians to reject such provocations and called on security agencies to investigate and address the origins of the post.

The governor reassured residents of his commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Lagos, encouraging everyone to disregard any similar divisive messages.
