The Rivers State Government has strongly rejected recent demands from Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers, for an emergency rule in the state. Joseph Johnson, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, dismissed Okocha’s calls as “Bobo juice,” indicating they were baseless and unworthy of attention.

At a press briefing, Commissioner Johnson referred to Okocha’s remarks as mere “ranting,” stating they didn’t warrant a serious response. He accused Okocha of being known for spreading false information and using fear tactics without credibility.

“Nobody would take such a character seriously in the state,” Johnson said, emphasizing the government’s disregard for Okocha’s influence and claims.

Johnson recalled a previous incident where Okocha falsely claimed a cholera outbreak in the state, prompting an investigation by medical experts who found no such issue.

He stated, “On Tony Okocha, I don’t think what he said is worth any attention. We should not concern ourselves with his claims. Previously, he claimed there was a cholera outbreak, but medical personnel found nothing. He also claimed to welcome House of Assembly members who defeated the APC and even talked about impeaching the governor, none of which came to pass. All these are just ‘Bobo juice.’ He is merely talking to himself, not to the people of Rivers.”
