“Problem Child Concept Cafe” in Hokkaido, Japan faces controversy as a waitress was caught mixing her own blood in drinks served to customers.
A waitress at Japan’s “Mondaiji Con Cafe Daku” was fired after it was discovered that she had mixed her own blood into cocktails that were unknowingly served to customers. Earlier this month, the cafe, which translates to “Problem Child Concept Cafe,” apologized for the incident and announced the employee’s termination.
The cafe, known for its 2,500 yen all-you-can-drink menu and concept of being an establishment for “problem children” and “the cutest” girls who enjoy the darkness, stated that the server’s actions were “absolutely not acceptable.”
While the cafe did not reveal the employee’s name, it did state that it would be temporarily closed to replace every drinking glass.

The owner of the cafe, who called the employee’s actions “part-time job terrorism,” tweeted earlier this month, “Please allow me to continue running the store for a little longer so that I can be happy alone.” We will hire a contractor to clean the store, change glasses, and dispose of any contaminated alcoholic beverages. I apologize once more for causing you trouble this time.

Following the news, a doctor issued a warning that “drinking the blood of other people is an extremely dangerous act.” Dr. Zento Kitao advised anyone who had visited the cafe to see a doctor and get a blood test, as major diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, and syphilis can be transmitted through blood.
Japan is well-known for its themed cafes, such as cat cafes, snake cafes, and maid and butler establishments, which are popular with customers looking for one-of-a-kind experiences.
