According to Forbes, music superstars are among the world’s wealthiest people. The publication published its list of the world’s wealthiest people in 2023, which includes 2,640 billionaires ranging from Jeff Bezos to Bill Gates.

Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter is the 1217th richest person, with a net worth of $2.5 billion. The recent sale of D’USSÉ added to the 53-year-old mogul’s billion-dollar fortune, which was declared hip-hop’s first billionaire in 2019. Following a highly publicized legal battle, he sold his 50% stake in the cognac brand to Bacardi for $750 million, but he still owns a significant portion of the company.

Hov is in good company, as he is tied for first place with Oprah Winfrey. Roc Nation and Armand de Brignac are also in his portfolio. He sold a 50% stake in the luxury champagne brand to LVMH Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton in 2021.

Rihanna is ranked No. 2020, with a net worth of $1.4 billion. The 35-year-old businesswoman has built a fortune with her Fenty Beauty line, which debuted in 2017, and her lingerie line, Savage x Fenty.

Kanye West drops off the list after a turbulent year. Ye lost his billionaire status after Adidas ended its partnership with him following his anti-Semitic remarks. He was ranked 1513 on the list last year, with a net worth of $2 billion, which has since dropped to $398 million.
His ex-wife Kim Kardashian is still a billionaire at No. 2259 ($1.2B), along with other celebrities such as LeBron James and Tyler Perry, who are tied at No. 2540.

The world’s billionaires are now worth a total of $12.2 trillion. Elon Musk drops to second place ($180 billion) after his acquisition of Twitter devalued Tesla shares. With $211 billion, Bernard Arnault, CEO of luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, is the world’s richest person.
