Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has spoken candidly about his personal experience with polygamy, addressing common misconceptions surrounding his marriage.

During a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the actor set the record straight, clarifying that he was never married to four wives at the same time.

“I didn’t have four wives at once, let’s get that clear. I had two, but unfortunately, I lost them. Then I remarried two others,” he explained.

Polygamy Is Not for Everyone

Kosoko emphasized that he does not promote polygamy, as every individual’s experience is different. He acknowledged the financial challenges that come with managing a large family, using birthday celebrations as an example.

“I’m not saying polygamy is the way to go because not everyone will be as lucky as I am. In some homes, one child’s birthday is celebrated in a big way, but by the time another child’s birthday comes around, there might not be enough funds to do the same. My children and their mothers understand this—if I have money, I celebrate, if I don’t, they accept it. It’s really about chance,” he shared.

The Importance of Emotional Balance in a Polygamous Home

The actor also advised that in such family structures, love should be expressed beyond material gifts. He believes that if children feel emotionally secure, they will be more understanding when financial challenges arise.

“You have to show them love in other ways. That way, if material things don’t always come through, they’ll still know you care and understand when things are tough,” he added.

Kosoko’s candid insights shed light on the complexities of polygamy, highlighting both the blessings and the challenges that come with it.
