Bieber took to social media on Monday to share his thoughts on Ocean’s performance last weekend.
JUSTIN BIEBER has spoken out about Frank Ocean’s controversial Coachella performance, which left many fans perplexed and disappointed. The set was Ocean’s first live performance in six years, and it had been planned for several years — Ocean was originally scheduled to headline in 2020 before the pandemic hit and was eventually rescheduled for 2023.
On Monday, Bieber shared an image from Ocean’s performance — a documentary-style photo of his face enlarged on a massive screen — with a caption that expressed his feelings. “Frank Ocean’s Coachella performance blew me away,” wrote Bieber. “His artistry is simply unmatched, his style, taste, voice, attention to detail… I was deeply moved.”
The Canadian singer also called Ocean an inspiration, saying, “It made me want to keep going and get better as an artist.” He continues to raise the bar and provided me with a night I will never forget! Thank you, Frank.”
According to a source close to Ocean’s set, production on his performance was adjusted at the last minute to account for an ankle injury, according to Rolling Stone. The singer reportedly suffered the injury during on-site rehearsals in the week leading up to the festival, which could explain why Ocean arrived an hour late and spent most of the time sitting down. Ocean is still scheduled to perform at Coachella weekend two next Sunday, April 23.
