Harry Kane’s ankle injury will be attended to by England’s national team doctors in collaboration with Bayern Munich’s medical staff, as announced by the Bundesliga champions on Sunday.

Kane achieved a milestone in Bayern’s recent 5-2 triumph against Darmstadt by netting his 31st Bundesliga goal of the season, surpassing Uwe Seeler’s longstanding record for the most goals in a debut season in Germany’s top flight. However, the England captain had to leave the pitch in the 82nd minute following a knock to his left ankle.

Bayern’s coach Thomas Tuchel later confirmed that Kane had “stumbled and fallen into the net, twisting his ankle” with club sporting director Christoph Freund emphasizing that Kane would prioritize his recovery and not take any unnecessary risks.

Kane is set to join England’s training camp at St George’s Park ahead of two upcoming friendlies at Wembley Stadium against Brazil on March 23 and Belgium three days later.

The forward has a history of ankle injuries, having faced setbacks on five separate occasions during his tenure at Tottenham Hotspur. Notably, in 2019, two distinct injuries to the same ankle resulted in a three-month absence from the pitch, including missing Tottenham’s Champions League semi-final clashes against Ajax.

Tuchel expressed optimism that the incident was merely a scare, especially with Bayern’s next match against Borussia Dortmund slated for March 30. He remarked, “When Harry goes off, it’s never a good sign because Harry never goes off when there’s still goals to score.”

Kane’s achievement of breaking a 60-year-old record for the most goals scored in a debut Bundesliga season is noteworthy. His 31 goals from 26 games surpassed the previous record held by German legend Seeler, who scored 30 goals in the 1963-64 season for Hamburg.

Despite Bayern’s remarkable streak of 11 consecutive Bundesliga titles, they currently trail league leaders Bayer Leverkusen by seven points, with Leverkusen also having a game in hand. In addition, Bayern recently drew Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals, setting the stage for an intriguing clash.
