Kanye West’s Social Media Account Reinstated After Suspension.

The social media platform X has reinstated the account of Kanye West, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, after nearly eight months of suspension due to violations of platform rules prohibiting incitement to violence. Now operating under the new name “X,” the platform is owned by Elon Musk.

Ye’s account displays his last post from December 1, just a day before it was suspended on X. However, he will not be eligible to monetize his account, and advertisements will not appear next to his posts on the platform, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The suspension occurred in December, shortly after the rapper’s account was reinstated for the first time. One of his posts had depicted a swastika symbol inside a Star of David, which Musk deemed an “incitement to violence.” However, X decided to reinstate Ye’s account after receiving assurances that he would not use the platform to share anti-Semitic or harmful content.

Despite the reinstatement, Kanye West has yet to post anything new on the platform. The billionaire owner, Elon Musk, has positioned himself as a free speech absolutist and previously welcomed the rapper’s return in October.

Ye faced consequences for making anti-Semitic remarks last year, which led to the termination of several lucrative business deals. Adidas, with whom he had a nearly decade-long partnership for his Yeezy-branded sneakers, cut ties with him. This move significantly impacted the company’s sales, causing a loss of approximately 400 million euros ($441 million) in the first quarter of the year. Additionally, Gap and Balenciaga also decided to sever ties with the rapper and designer.
