Kari Lake, a Republican candidate for governor of Arizona, reacted on Sunday after receiving “strange” letters at her campaign headquarters and vowed to find the culprit.
A white powdery material was apparently exposed to Lake’s employees through shipments sent to her office.
After a campaign rally in Queen Creek, Arizona, on Sunday evening, Lake was questioned by reporters about the gifts and the wellbeing of the staff members who had been exposed.
“I’ve been so busy running for office. This took place. I wasn’t working at the time. A couple of our fantastic employees were actually exposed, including one of them “stated Lake. “They are now doing well. We’re keeping an eye on them and want to make sure everything is alright.”
Lake said that instead of being transferred to Quantico, Virginia for testing, the drug was delivered to a lab that was nearby.
So, she added, “we’re going to find out what it was.
It was noted by the former TV news presenter that this was not the first time that her campaign had been attacked.
But listen, she added, “these are perilous times. “We’ve received threats before, so this is nothing new. I’ve received numerous threats. Our tires have suffered damage. Our tires have had screws punched into them so that they can blow out while we are driving. We need to pick a strong, courageous, and non-cowardly candidate because the times we are in are frightening. We’ll investigate this further. I really don’t want to anticipate things too much.”
In a prior statement to Fox News Digital, the Phoenix Police Department said that officers had been called to a “found property report at an office building.”
According to Phoenix Police Sgt. Phil Krynsky, “when officers arrived, they discovered there were suspicious things placed inside the mail.” “To gather the materials and secure the region, more resources arrived. No injuries have been reported, and the inquiry is still ongoing.”
This is the most recent incident of alleged crimes in recent months that have targeted lawmakers, candidates, and their families.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul was hospitalized two weeks ago after a man who broke into their San Francisco home hit him with a hammer, and Arizona Democrat gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs’ campaign headquarters in Phoenix was broken into last week. Lee Zeldin, a Republican representative and candidate for governor of New York, was assaulted by a man brandishing a sharp object at a campaign event in July.
On Tuesday, Lake and Hobbs will square off in the election for governor of Arizona.
In her statements to reporters on Sunday night, Lake, a vocal critic of the mainstream media, also blamed the media for the escalating political division.
