In a shocking incident at the Clark County District Court in Las Vegas, Judge Mary Kay Holthus faced a physical assault on January 3 during the sentencing of a man convicted of felony battery.
As Judge Holthus delivered a sentence to 30-year-old Deobra Redden, the situation took a violent turn. Despite Redden’s attorney requesting probation for his client, the judge remained firm in her decision. When Holthus made a remark about Redden needing to “get a taste of something else,” the convict unexpectedly leaped over the bench and attacked her, creating chaos in the courtroom.
Quick intervention from several individuals, including the bailiff, was necessary to subdue Redden amid ongoing screams and fights. Some even landed punches on Redden before order was restored.

According to sources, Judge Holthus hit her head during the incident, but thankfully, she emerged physically unharmed after this frightening episode.
Redden has a history of encounters with the law, and this wasn’t his first appearance before Judge Holthus. Previously arraigned on destruction of property charges, he served a year in prison for a separate domestic battery charge. In November, Redden pleaded guilty to threatening bodily harm, leading to a bench warrant for his arrest in December when he missed a court appearance.
