Latto decided to surprise her fans with the introduction of a new song today (May 31). In a short clip, the Clayton County representative stated that a remix to her recent track, “Put It On Da Floor,” will be released this Friday (June 2). She jokingly tore open a plastic bag to reveal the song’s new partner, Cardi B, using a popular line from the Go Grizzly, Squat Beats, and Ben Hogarth-produced effort. Given the context, it’s a safe bet that a music video will be released soon after the remix.

“Put It On Da Floor,” released in April, features Latto at her most poetic, rapping about her detractors, high-end lifestyle, and much more. “I’ve done everything, I feel like Shawty Lo, laughing all the way to the bank, but s**t isn’t a joke, say she got a problem?” She rhymes on the track: “Imaginary smoke, b**ches said it’s up, then put it on the floor.”

Latto released her sophomore studio album, 777, in 2022, which had 13 tracks and guest appearances from 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino, Lil Durk, Nardo Wick, and Kodak Black. The album is her most successful to date, hitting at Nos. 15 and No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums lists, respectively. Since then, the XXL Freshman alum has kept her momentum going with free tracks like “P**SY,” “FTCU” with GloRilla and Gangsta Boo, “Another Nasty Song,” and “Lottery” with LU KALA, which — together with “Put It On Da Floor” — are slated to be on her upcoming third album.

In addition to her own work, she has created bars for Trina, Ella Mai, Saucy Santana, Megan Thee Stallion, Calvin Harris, Lola Brooke, and Chlöe. Check out Latto and Cardi B’s huge announcement after the jump.
