Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, shared insights on Sunday’s looting incident at a government warehouse in Abuja during an appearance on Channels Television’s morning show, The Morning Brief, on Monday. He highlighted the event as a stark reflection of the prevailing frustrations among many Nigerians under President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies.

According to Adegboruwa, the incident underscores the urgent need for President Tinubu and his economic team to overhaul the system, ensuring the welfare and survival of the majority of Nigerians. He emphasized that the current economic crisis spans across various states in Nigeria, signifying a broader societal struggle for survival.

While condemning the looting as detrimental to the peace and security of the nation, Adegboruwa emphasized the underlying frustration stemming from the administration’s economic policies. He stressed that policies such as the removal of petrol subsidy, a significant move by the Tinubu administration, have notably impacted the economy, resulting in increased commodity costs and heightened financial strain on the populace.

The removal of the fuel subsidy, as highlighted by Adegboruwa, has cascaded into various economic challenges, including transportation difficulties, closures of factories, surging unemployment rates, and an overall spike in the cost of living amidst stagnant or dwindling income levels for many Nigerians.

The recent looting incident in Abuja, where residents raided a warehouse owned by the Federal Capital Territory Department of Agriculture, serves as a poignant illustration of the dire economic realities facing the populace. It underscores the pressing need for proactive measures to address systemic issues and alleviate the burdens faced by ordinary citizens.
