According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Malawi is experiencing its worst cholera outbreak in history.

It has killed over 1200 people in the last year. Except for two districts, all of the country’s 29 are now affected.

There have been two large vaccination campaigns, but due to a lack of supplies, people have only received one oral dose rather than the recommended two.

The UN health body stated that efforts were being made to improve sanitation and access to clean water in affected areas through house-to-house chlorination.

According to the report, there has been an increase in cholera outbreaks worldwide, resulting in a vaccine shortage.
