The case of Tory Lanez v. The State of California experienced another delay in the sentencing process, as confirmed by court reporter Meghann Cuniff on Tuesday (June 13). The highly anticipated sentencing was postponed once more.

At the request of Lanez’s defense team, the sentencing in the case was delayed. Judge Herriford granted their request, allowing them more time. They now have until August 1 to submit a recommendation for the sentencing. The new date for the sentencing has been scheduled for August 7.

Earlier this month, the artist known for the song “Stupid Again” made an unsuccessful attempt to have Judge Herriford removed from the trial. The judge ruled that there were no grounds for disqualification, stating that he saw no facts or circumstances to support it.

During the court appearance, the artist was dressed in an orange jumpsuit and a black cap. After the session, Deputy District Attorney Alex Bott recognized Megan Thee Stallion’s strength and resilience, expressing appreciation for her. He also mentioned that the proceedings would be concluding soon.

This recent postponement signifies the third change in Lanez’s sentencing timeline. Initially scheduled for January 2, the rapper’s sentencing was first moved to February 28 due to a switch in his legal representation.

However, the February date was further delayed when the musician requested a new trial, a plea that was rejected by the court. In addition to the possibility of deportation to Canada, Lanez now faces a potential prison term of 22 years and eight months, significantly longer than the initial recommendation by prosecutors.

The case, known for its twists and turns, has captured public attention for nearly three years since reports first emerged of Tory Lanez shooting Megan. The ultimate resolution will serve as a crucial turning point for all parties involved and bring an end to the legal drama that has kept observers eagerly awaiting closure.

In recent news, it was reported that the Canadian musician, along with frequent collaborator DaBaby, allegedly attempted to disrupt Meg’s performance at Rolling Loud 2021. Although their efforts were unsuccessful, they raised concerns about their intentions and whether they were trying to make her uncomfortable. Additionally, this incident violated the protective order against Lanez, which prohibits him from being within 100 yards of Megan Thee Stallion.
