At Uganda’s national referral hospital Mulago in the country’s capital Kampala, nine more persons tested positive for the Ebola virus.
With this, there are now 14 positive cases at the isolation unit of the facility.
According to Kassanda, one of the most afflicted districts, health minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, contacted a person who recently passed away at Mulago hospital in the positive cases.
One family can count seven fresh positive instances. The other two are a physician and his wife.
The medical professional treated one of the now-positive cases at a neighborhood clinic outside of the city.
As additional cases are recorded in the capital, there is growing concern that the outbreak may get out of hand.
The two most affected districts, Mubende and Kassandra, are currently under quarantine, but cases have continued to increase.
To determine if they were prepared to treat Ebola cases, officials last week toured healthcare institutions in the Kampala and Entebbe regions.
More than a month has passed since the first reports of an epidemic of the Sudan strain of Ebola in central Uganda, in a rural area of the Mubende district.
According to official statistics, the country currently has 75 confirmed cases of Ebola, 28 of which have passed away. These numbers reflect confirmed instances; they do not reflect deaths or likely issues.
