Nigerian singer Omah Lay has revealed that a fellow artist stole his music idea. During an appearance on the Zach Sang Show, Omah Lay shared that he had confided in the artist about his plans for an upcoming album. However, the colleague used the same concept for their own album, prompting Omah Lay to start over and re-record his own.

Omah Lay explained that he initially planned to create an album featuring a fresh sound, exemplified by his track “Holy Ghost.” He discussed his vision with the unnamed artist, with whom he was considering a collaboration. Yet, when the artist released an album using the same concept, Omah Lay was forced to rethink and re-record his project.

Reflecting on the situation, Omah Lay said, “I shared my vision with someone I respect and wanted to collaborate with. Five months later, they released an album with the exact same idea I had shared. It pushed me to rework my album, which I believe will become a groundbreaking record in Afrobeats history.”
