After weeks of speculation and rumors swirling around her marriage, Mabel Makun, the estranged wife of renowned comedian AY Makun, has officially confirmed their separation.

In an Instagram post on April 10, 2024, Mabel expressed her gratitude to her fans and followers for their unwavering support during this challenging time. She clarified that her decision to maintain silence amidst their marital troubles was primarily to safeguard their privacy and respect for her husband.

“I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of support I’ve received from everyone. However, my quiet demeanor should not be misconstrued. My children’s father, with whom I’ve shared many years, deserves a level of privacy and respect. Our priority should be the mental and emotional well-being of our children,” she stated.

Recent rumors circulating on social media alleged that infidelity issues had led to the couple’s separation, with Mabel reportedly moving out of their shared home due to AY’s alleged unfaithfulness, which purportedly caused her health problems.

“Various falsehoods have been spread about me, and I’ve endured unwarranted attacks on social media. Yet, I choose to maintain my silence and not engage with these falsehoods. Though my vision of a lifelong marriage has taken an unexpected turn, I remain committed to moving forward with strength and resilience. I hold onto hope for a brighter future for myself and our children, despite the rumors and opinions circulating,” she affirmed.

“While this turn of events may be unexpected, I seek solace in my faith as I embark on this new journey. As we navigate through this transition, I humbly request your support in fostering an environment of respect and understanding. This is a challenging time, and I appeal for privacy and compassion as my ex-husband and I chart our separate paths forward,” she concluded.

Following Mabel’s post, AY shared a message on Instagram, stating, “This too shall pass.”

Earlier in the week, AY had openly acknowledged the strains on their marriage and longstanding friendship of 20 years, acknowledging the complexities of assigning blame in a societal framework that often portrays women as perpetual victims.

The couple tied the knot in 2008 and welcomed two daughters during their union.
