Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has taken legal action against four individuals accused of spreading false rumors about him on social media.

Bassey filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, seeking an investigation and prosecution of the suspects for criminal defamation and cyberstalking.

The petition was submitted by Bassey’s legal team on Monday, April 1, 2024, following allegations linking him to the paternity of a fellow gospel singer’s child.

The accusations gained traction online after photos of Bassey and the child circulated on social media platforms, prompting his legal team to demand swift action against the suspects.

The individuals named in the petition, Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, Terrence Ekot, and Dj Spoiltkid, are accused of spreading defamatory content about Bassey, damaging his reputation and character.

The lawyers argue that the actions of the suspects violate criminal laws related to defamation and cybercrimes.

They emphasize the serious consequences of such false allegations, stressing the need for immediate intervention to prevent further harm to Bassey’s reputation.

The legal team urges law enforcement to investigate the matter thoroughly, arrest the suspects, and bring them to justice as a deterrent to others who may engage in similar behavior.
