Taylor Swift is a city single!
Swift was spotted having dinner in New York City with her friend and longtime collaborator, Jack Antonoff, and his fiancée, Margaret Qualley, just days after news of her split from boyfriend Joe Alwyn broke.
Swift was seen smiling as she stepped out for dinner with the couple at Via Carota restaurant in downtown Manhattan, just blocks away from Cornelia Street, which was the inspiration for one of Swift’s songs on her Lover album – fittingly named after the street where she once lived – and is thought to have been inspired by Alwyn.
“And I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends / I’d never walk Cornelia Street again / That’s the kind of heartbreak time couldn’t mend / I’d never walk Cornelia Street again,” Swift sings in the 2019 single.
For the occasion, the 33-year-old singer, who is currently on her The Eras tour, wore a black off-the-shoulder top with embroidered high-waisted jeans and black heels. She completed the look with a glittering handbag and her trademark red lipstick.
While Swift wore minimal jewelry Monday night, fans are speculating that the necklace she’s seen wearing in the photos is the same “J” necklace that Alwyn gave her.
Swift was seen in public for the first time since ET exclusively learned a few weeks ago that she and Alwyn had called it quits after six years of dating.
ET all so learned that the divorce was amicable and “not dramatic.” According to ET, “the relationship had just run its course.” It’s the reason [Alwyn] hasn’t been seen at any shows.” Swift’s tour continues in Tampa, Florida, with the first of three Tampa dates beginning on Thursday.
Swift and Alwyn were said to be in a good place in their relationship not so long ago. They began dating in late 2016, and a source told ET in October that they were “doing great” and had a “super strong relationship.”
That announcement came just hours after Swift released her highly anticipated 10th studio album, Midnights, which was followed by seven additional songs released in her surprise 3 am Edition of the album, several of which Swift confirmed were inspired by her and Alwyn’s romance, as well as the lengths they go to silence the outside noise.
Alwyn, 32, told British Vogue in September 2018 that he understands fans’ desire to be kept up to date on his and Swift’s relationship.
“I’m aware that people are interested in that side of things,” he told the magazine, referring to Swift. “I believe we were successful in being very private, and that has now sunk in for people.”
