After suffering ankle ligament damage in Brazil’s opening victory over Serbia, the team doctor announced on Friday that Neymar would miss his country’s next World Cup match against Switzerland on Monday.

After being replaced during the 2-0 victory over Serbia, the Paris Saint-Germain attacker was shown to have a swollen ankle. Doctor Rodrigo Lasmar later claimed in a video that the player had “lateral ligament damage.”

The 30-year-old sustained “ligament damage,” according to Rodrigo Lasmar, the doctor for the Brazilian football organization.
Due to an ankle strain, Danilo, the right-back for Brazil, will also miss Monday’s game against Switzerland.

The doctor indicated in a video by the CBF that “we will not have these two players for our next encounter but they continue their treatment with the hope of recovering in time for the rest of the championship.”
