Following the release of her new single “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” the rap queen returned to the airwaves on Friday for Queen Radio on Amp. During her first episode of 2023, she announced the formation of her own record label, Republic Records, with Paddy Dukes as A&R.
“I now have a record label,” Nicki explained. “I want to do it right because you know how I do shit for people who aren’t even signed to me when I get behind an artist. Imagine what I’m going to do for the ones who have signed.”
Nicki, who was signed by Lil Wayne to Young Money, discussed the significance of a co-sign. “I didn’t have any paperwork with Lil Wayne when I came into this game,” she explained. “But he had us on tour, in the studio, and he was getting on my mixtapes. So I understand how important it is to have someone else do the heavy lifting for you.”
“I understand why people are coming out, and they’re so microwaveable, and they’re here today and gone tomorrow, because there’s no structure,” she continued. There is no one who truly believes in them. ‘Nah, I’m going to make it my business to see you shine,’ he says.
While she had considered starting her own label in the past, she decided to wait until the right time came. “That’s why I never wanted to do a label before, because I told myself, ‘No, I’m not ready, because I’m not going to ruin anyone’s life unless I’m really ready to put these artists on.'”
She intends to reveal the label’s name on the next Queen Radio episode, but she did introduce some of the first signees, including London Hill, Nana Fofie, Rico Danna, and Tate Kobang, who wrote the hook and is also featured on “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.”

The label will have a diverse roster of artists. “Don’t think my label is only about rap or Black music or anything. “We have some other musical genres,” she revealed.
This is not the first time Nicki has taken on an artist. She signed Parker Ighile, a British singer-songwriter who appeared on “Hell Yeah” from Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up in 2012.
