In a heartfelt conversation, Nollywood icon Kate Henshaw opened up about a troubling issue many women face in Nigeria—legal and societal inequality.

She didn’t hold back as she shared her thoughts on how women are often viewed and treated, especially under laws that should protect everyone. Speaking with clarity and conviction, Kate pointed out that some of the laws meant to prevent violence actually fall short when it comes to safeguarding women.

“Women weren’t created to be beneath men,” she said. “We were meant to stand side by side—equal partners in building, growing, and thriving. But somehow, many men here still treat women like they’re less.”

She questioned how the law could allow a man to “chastise” his wife and still be considered just. Her words weren’t just commentary—they were a call to rethink what fairness and respect should really look like.

In another moment that lit up social media, fellow actress Ruby Ojiakor gave us a refreshing glimpse into her own relationship. In a video that’s been making the rounds, she praised her husband—not just for being loyal, but for being kind.

She smiled as she talked about how he supports her without ego, without trying to assert dominance. “He’s not a womaniser. He can joke around, but he respects the boundary. And that means everything to me,” she said.

Ruby called him her soulmate, her prophet, her king. “If I’m too tired to cook, he’ll step in—no complaints, no shouting ‘I’m the man of the house.’ He doesn’t act like that. And I’m so grateful.”

In a world where so many women are asking to be heard, stories like these—of honesty, of partnership, and of quiet resistance—stand tall.
