According to local media, Nigerian police have launched an operation to find a catholic priest who was kidnapped by gunmen over the weekend.
Rev Fr Jude Maduka is the parish priest of a church in Okigwe, Imo state’s south-eastern region.
According to a colleague, the priest was kidnapped while preparing for Sunday mass.
The church has called for the priest’s “safe and sound” release.
The kidnapping is the latest in a string of abductions targeting clergy in the West African country.
