Waje Announces Engagement and Reflects on Her Musical Journey

Popular Nigerian singer Aituaje Iruobe, better known as Waje, has shared exciting news—she is officially engaged. The 45-year-old artist revealed this milestone during a recent interview with Hip TV Lagos, though she kept the details of her engagement private.

In the same conversation, Waje reflected on her approach to relationships, noting that she cannot consider marrying someone who isn’t successful. She explained that, given her age, she doesn’t have the luxury of waiting for a partner to find their footing.

Waje also opened up about her past, revealing that the father of her daughter abandoned her when she became pregnant as a teenager, refusing to take responsibility.

Turning to her music career, Waje shared some surprising insights about her early days in the industry. She disclosed that she was the female vocalist on P-Square’s 2007 hit “Do Me”, performing the chorus, yet she wasn’t officially credited or compensated for her contribution. During an appearance on The HonestBunch Podcast with Daddy Freeze, she recalled how many people doubted her claim because her name didn’t appear on the track.

The song, performed by twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, became a nationwide hit and helped Waje gain public recognition. She also revealed that she could not appear in the official music video at the time because she did not have a passport.

Despite the challenges and uncredited work, Waje’s voice has remained unforgettable in the Nigerian music scene, and she continues to inspire fans with her talent, resilience, and now, her personal milestones.
