On Wednesday, some Nigerians expressed their concerns about the country’s deteriorating economic conditions through prayers.

Muslim traders at Kantin Kwari, Nigeria’s largest textile market located in Kano state, stepped out of their shops to pray on the streets, seeking divine intervention for the economy.

Hamisu Sani, a shop owner, shared  that many people are struggling to cope with the challenging circumstances, particularly regarding basic needs like food.

“We organized this special prayer to seek God’s assistance because we feel uncertain about the actions our leaders are taking regarding the economy. The cost of essential items like rice and sugar has become unaffordable for the average person. We’re relying on divine help,” he emphasized.

In recent years, food prices have surged across Nigeria, exacerbated by government policies such as the removal of subsidies on petrol. This has further strained the financial situation for many citizens.
