Khadijat Omotayo, Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Constituency Affairs, recently urged Nigerians to appreciate the government’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Jos on Saturday, Omotayo defended President Tinubu from critics, highlighting that no previous administration has done as much for the country. She emphasized the administration’s dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians through various initiatives.
Omotayo assured citizens that the funds saved from the subsidy removal have been distributed across all states, and President Tinubu has also increased workers’ salaries.
She stated, “At this point, we should appreciate the efforts of Mr. President, who is focused on bringing the benefits of democracy to all states. If he were just a partisan politician, he wouldn’t allow me to come to Plateau State, which is known to be a PDP stronghold. But here I am, representing him because he believes in inclusivity.”
She went on to address the concerns of students, saying that the President has launched a free student loan program, accessible to all regions without requiring collateral.
Omotayo shared, “This loan is available to all students—tell everyone you know. No collateral is required, and repayment starts only after two years when you’ve secured a job. The money will be deducted from your salary, not paid out-of-pocket.”
Her message was clear: the administration is working hard to improve the lives of every Nigerian, with tangible benefits already being felt across the country.
