Celebrity barman, Okechukwu Pascal, popularly known as Cubana Chiefpriest, has joined former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha in calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), from detention.

Kanu has been in custody since June 2021 after his rearrest in Kenya and subsequent extraordinary rendition under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

At a tribute event held in honor of the late Nigerian Senator Ifeanyi Ubah on Monday night, Okorocha appealed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, urging him to intervene with the Federal Government for Kanu’s release.

Cubana Chiefpriest echoed this plea on his Instagram, expressing concern over the hardships many Igbos have faced, including being unable to return to their hometowns for nearly five years. He emphasized that Kanu’s release is key to restoring peace in the region, citing the significant loss of lives and property.

He wrote, “@senator_akpabio, the plea from the people of Igbo land is all we ask for our dear in-law. Let OHAMADIKE, Nnamdi Kanu, return home soon. It’s been almost five years since we’ve had access to our hometown, and only his release can bring peace back to our region. We have lost so much in lives and property, and we need to rebuild the South-East as soon as possible. Please help us.”
