It’s with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to John Okafor, the beloved actor and comedian known as Mr Ibu.

The sad news was confirmed by Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actor Guild of Nigeria (AGN), who shared the news of Mr Ibu’s passing on his Instagram page on Saturday night. According to Rollas, Mr Ibu suffered from cardiac arrest and, unfortunately, did not survive. Don Single Nwuzor, Mr Ibu’s manager for 24 years, also reported the news of his cardiac arrest.

Mr Ibu was renowned for his comedic talents, leaving an indelible mark on the Nigerian film industry through his memorable performances. His iconic roles in movies such as “Mr. Ibu” and collaborations with fellow actor Osita Iheme endeared him to audiences far and wide. His filmography includes classics like “The Eve,” “London Fever,” “Issakaba,” and “Mr. Ibu and His Son,” among others.

His legacy as a versatile entertainer and his contributions to Nollywood will be cherished by fans and colleagues alike.
