According to their lawyer, four Kenyan MPs have been charged with unlawful assembly after participating in anti-government protests on Monday.
During the protests, police used tear gas on opposition leader Raila Odinga’s convoy in Nairobi.
On Kenyatta Avenue, there were running battles between police and demonstrators, some of whom threw stones at the security officers.

Protests spread to other cities, including Kisumu, where a university student was reportedly shot dead.
On Thursday, Mr Odinga condemned what he called “illegal arrests,” noting that two of those detained were leading members of the opposition in parliament. Over 200 people were detained in total.
“These patriotic Kenyans… have done nothing wrong,” Odinga said. We demand that the charges be dropped immediately and unconditionally.”
