A boat carrying 47 people sank off the coast of Madagascar on its way to the French island of Mayotte, killing 22 migrants.
According to Madagascar’s maritime agency, twenty-three people were saved, with two still missing.
According to the agency, the migrants took the boat to Mayotte undercover. According to the report, the incident occurred on Saturday.
A police officer told the Reuters news agency that the majority of those rescued had fled to avoid being arrested.
