Tragic Incident: Over 60 Feared Dead as Boat Drifts Near Cape Verde.

A devastating incident unfolded as a boat carrying more than 100 migrants, primarily from Senegal, set off from their homeland and was later discovered adrift approximately 300km (186 miles) off the coast of Cape Verde in the Atlantic Ocean.

Out of the 38 fortunate survivors, seven are currently undergoing medical treatment in a local hospital.

The wooden fishing boat embarked on its journey from Senegal a month ago, but the fate of those missing remains unknown.

Senegalese authorities are coordinating efforts to repatriate the survivors, while officials in Cape Verde are urgently calling for international collaboration to address the migration crisis and prevent further tragic losses.

Reports indicate that the boat was likely headed for the Spanish Canary Islands, a common route for migrants attempting to reach the European Union.

The discovery was made on a fateful Monday when a Spanish fishing vessel spotted the drifting boat.

Among the survivors are four children aged between 12 and 16, according to a spokesperson from the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
