Unity Against ANC: South African Political Parties Form Alliance Ahead of 2024 Election.

In a significant move, a coalition of seven political parties in South Africa has united forces with the aim of dethroning the ruling African National Congress (ANC) in the upcoming 2024 election.

The Multi-Party Charter for South Africa outlines their strategy to collaborate and distribute ministerial roles and parliamentary seats in the event of their victory.

Furthermore, their collective objective involves preventing the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party led by Julius Malema from gaining ascendancy.

Spearheaded by the main opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) party, this pact emerges amidst the country’s pressing challenges: a struggling economy, widespread corruption, escalating crime rates, high unemployment, and an unprecedented energy crisis.

The alliance includes additional signatories: the Inkatha Freedom Party, Freedom Front Plus, ActionSA, United Independent Movement, Independent SA National Civic Organisation (Isanco), and the Spectrum National Party.

Notably, this alliance has expressed intentions to extend invitations to other political parties in due course.

Analysts speculate that the ANC faces the real risk of losing its parliamentary majority for the first time since South Africa’s democratic transition in 1994.

However, the coalition has yet to determine who would assume the role of president should they succeed in the election.
