“Saturday Night Live” comedian Pete Davidson faces reckless driving charge after car crash in Beverly Hills

Pete Davidson, known for his role on “Saturday Night Live,” has been charged with one count of misdemeanor reckless driving following a car accident that occurred earlier this year, involving a collision with a home in Beverly Hills.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office confirmed the charge without providing specific details about the incident. In a statement released on Friday, they stated, “We have reason to believe that Mr. Davidson was involved in reckless driving, which led to the collision with a residence. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries resulting from the crash.”

The crash reportedly took place in a residential neighborhood during the late hours of March 4. Entertainment Tonight revealed that Davidson’s girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, was also present in the vehicle at the time of the accident. According to Beverly Hills police, Davidson struck a fire hydrant during the crash.

In Los Angeles, a reckless driving charge carries a potential sentence of up to 90 days in jail and a fine of $1,000. The district attorney’s office emphasized the importance of taking reckless driving allegations seriously, particularly in light of the rising number of traffic fatalities in the city.

CBS News reached out to Davidson’s representatives for comment, but there has been no immediate response. Davidson is scheduled to appear for arraignment on July 27.
