Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), made a significant visit to the Barkin-Iku Suleja Central Mosque along the Suleja–Kaduna road in Niger State on Wednesday.

In a statement shared via his official social media handle on Thursday, Obi expressed that his visit to the mosque was part of his ongoing nationwide tour to connect and support the Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan.

During his visit, Obi extended aid to approximately 100 individuals, participated in breaking the fast with around 1000 people, and shared a meal with the devoted Muslim community.

Reflecting on the experience, Obi emphasized the importance of fostering unity and solidarity among diverse religious groups. He also addressed a critical need in the community by facilitating the installation of a borehole, providing access to clean water—a necessity that had been lacking for over three decades.

During the visit, Obi had the privilege of listening to a Tafsir delivered by the Chief Imam, who highlighted the community’s longstanding need for a reliable source of clean water. Obi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support the community and underscored the core values of his movement, including empathy, inclusivity, and a commitment to improving the lives of all citizens, regardless of their beliefs or background.
