The Nigerian Police Force has apprehended a well-known Abuja kidnapper, Chinaza Phillip, in a joint operation spanning multiple states.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command officially confirmed the arrest of Phillip in a statement issued on Friday.

According to SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, officers from Kaduna played a key role in Phillip’s arrest on Thursday, January 18. Adeh further disclosed that the suspect has been transferred into the custody of the FCT Police Command.

While the specifics of the operation and the circumstances surrounding Phillip’s apprehension are still unfolding, the police authorities have assured the public of providing more comprehensive details in the near future.

Phillip’s arrest occurs against the backdrop of mounting concern over the escalating rate of kidnappings in the country, particularly in the Abuja region. The recent spate of high-profile abduction cases has underscored the urgency of addressing this pressing issue.

One such incident involved the abduction of six sisters, ranging from early teens to 23 years old, along with their father, Mansoor Al-Kadriyar, in the Abuja suburb of Bwari. Although Mansoor Al-Kadriyar was later released, his 21-year-old daughter, Nabeeha, a final-year university student, tragically lost her life last Friday as a stark warning demanding the payment of a substantial ransom.
