Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, found himself in trouble with the law yet again as police arrested him for allegedly failing to pay the balance on a G-Wagon he purchased from a car dealer.

The incident took place on Tuesday in the Abule Egba area of Lagos, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson in the state.

Reports indicate that Portable bought the vehicle valued at ₦27 million but only paid ₦13 million. In a video that went viral, Portable was seen attempting to evade arrest by scaling a gate when approached by police with an arrest warrant. Another video showed him being forcefully apprehended and escorted by several policemen into a waiting vehicle.

Amidst the commotion, a woman claiming to be the car dealer could be heard in the background expressing frustration and recounting how Portable allegedly threatened her when she demanded payment of the outstanding debt.

Hundeyin stated that the police anticipated the singer’s legal representation to appear on Wednesday morning. Depending on the outcome of discussions with his lawyers, Portable may face court proceedings.

This isn’t Portable’s first encounter with law enforcement. In April 2023, he was arrested in Ogun State and faced charges of assault and theft at the Ifo Magistrate Court in the Ifo Local Government Area. Following a stint at the Ilaro Correctional Centre, he was released on bail after meeting the conditions set by the court.
