Police in Ogun State have successfully rescued the wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police Hakeem Odumosu, who was kidnapped in the Arepo area of the state.
The incident occurred around 9 pm when masked abductors intercepted her Lexus Jeep near her home. According to police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the kidnappers forcibly removed her from the vehicle and took her to an undisclosed location.
Following the abduction, a search operation was immediately launched, led by the Divisional Police Officer. The police combed through nearby swampy areas with the support of local community leaders, including the Baale of Warewa and Maaba, who mobilized local security forces to assist in the riverine region.
After a week of intensive efforts, Force Headquarters Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced her rescue on Thursday. In a statement shared on social media, he confirmed that the kidnappers were neutralized, and a ransom was recovered during the operation.
“The IGP has commended the Ogun State Police Command and CP Lanre Ogunlowo for their swift and effective action,” Adejobi said. “Our commitment to protecting Nigerian citizens remains unwavering.”
This rescue underscores the dedication of law enforcement to ensuring public safety and addressing security challenges in the region.
