Nollywood Mourns as Chief Kanran and Seun Confirm Pass Away

The Nigerian film industry has been hit with a double loss following the deaths of two beloved actors — Segun Remi, fondly known as Chief Kanran, and Seun Confirm.

Celebrity journalist Seun Oloketuyi confirmed Chief Kanran’s passing in an Instagram post on Friday, noting that the veteran actor died at the age of 72. While the cause of death was not disclosed, his absence leaves a void in the Yoruba movie industry, where he was celebrated for his humor, unique style, and commanding presence in countless stage plays and films over the decades.

In another heartbreaking announcement, actress Jaiye Kuti revealed that actor Seun Confirm passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, due to complications from Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). In an emotional tribute, she expressed deep pain over the loss, offering prayers for his family’s comfort.

Her message read in part: “Rest in peace, my friend. This is a cruel blow. May God console your loved ones. We will meet again at the feet of Jesus.”

Both men leave behind legacies etched in the hearts of fans and colleagues, reminding the industry of the fleeting nature of life and the lasting impact of art.
