Tragic news has struck the Nollywood community with the passing of popular director Dimeji Ajibola. The filmmaker, renowned for his work on the acclaimed series “Shanty Town,” was remembered fondly in an emotional Instagram tribute by actor Bolanle Ninalowo. He shared, “I love you brother and I will miss you, @dimejiajibola. May God heal your family and loved ones. Till we meet again dido vox. Rest on, Champ.”

Actor Samuel Olatunji also confirmed the heartbreaking news, revealing that Ajibola passed away today after a battle with an undisclosed illness.

Ajibola was celebrated as a true visionary in Nollywood, known for his innovative blend of traditional and digital art forms. His creative talents extended beyond film, encompassing animation, visual effects, virtual worlds, and interactive media.

He possessed an impressive educational background, having honed his skills at prestigious institutions like the New York Film Academy at Universal Studios, Animation Mentor in San Francisco for advanced character animation, and VFXLearning for visual effects training.

As the CEO and Technical Director of Flipsyde Studios Ltd., Ajibola earned a reputation for excellence and creativity. His groundbreaking work on “Hoodrush” in 2012, Nigeria’s first urban musical film, showcased his unique ability to intertwine narrative storytelling with vibrant musical elements. The film garnered multiple accolades, including Best Movie at the 2012 Green Me Film Festival in Germany, Best Actor and Soundtrack at the Nollywood Movies Awards, and Best Supporting Actor at the African Movie Academy Awards.

Dimeji Ajibola’s contributions to the film industry will be remembered, and he leaves behind a legacy of innovation and creativity that has inspired many in Nollywood and beyond.
