It’s scorching in Daura, northern Katsina state, the hometown of outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari.
The president, who is 80 years old, voted earlier with his family and then addressed the media.
He expressed satisfaction that the voter card machines, or Bvacs, were functioning properly.
They employ biometric data, and he stated that the outcome of the vote cannot be influenced.
Voting is proceeding well at his polling place, but there have been delays in distributing voting materials in other parts of the state.

Voting began late in some regions and has yet to begin in others, making for a protracted day that will last well until 13:30 GMT, when polls are scheduled to close.
Those who are in line by 13:00 GMT will be eligible to vote.
Despite the heat, everyone are being patient, and men and women are waiting in separate lines, with merchants hoping to make some money selling water and dates.
Security is tight in Daura, but no one has reported being hassled by agents.
Insecurity has plagued the state, including kidnappings, which have become a campaign topic.
Under the current makeover, the shortage of the local naira currency has been prioritized.
