President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has arrived in N’Djamena, Chad’s capital. The Nigerian leader touched down on Thursday morning to attend the inauguration of Mahamat Idriss Deby as Chad’s new President.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, had previously announced President Tinubu’s visit in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. Ngelale mentioned that Tinubu would be accompanied by senior government officials and would return to Nigeria after the ceremony.

The inauguration of President Deby follows his recent victory in Chad’s presidential election, which was confirmed by the country’s Constitutional Court.

In related news, Chadian Prime Minister Succes Masra has resigned. Masra announced his decision following the presidential election’s conclusion, stating that his resignation and that of the transition government were in line with constitutional requirements.

“I’ve just submitted my resignation and that of the transition government, which became irrelevant with the end of the presidential election,” Masra told AFP.

This move comes weeks after Masra’s loss to Deby Itno in the election, marking a significant shift in Chad’s political landscape.
