Tinubu Emphasizes Ethical Standards as He Appoints New INEC Commissioners
President Bola Tinubu has recently authorized the appointment of nine Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a five-year term. The appointments, subject to the Senate’s confirmation, signify Tinubu’s commitment to upholding the highest levels of professionalism and ethical conduct in their roles.
According to the statement by Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the appointed RECs are as follows: Isah Ehimeakne for Edo, Bamidele Agbede for Ekiti State, Jani Bello for Gombe, Dr. Taiye Ilayasu for Kwara, and Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi for Lagos State. Others include Alhaji Yahaya Bello for Nasarawa State, Prof. Mohammed Yalwa for Niger, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha for Rivers, and Abubakar Dambo for Zamfara.
