The eagerly awaited Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan has finally been made available. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s contentious choice to leave the Royal Family and relocate to California is followed throughout the series.
Harry also makes a reference to Markle’s resemblance to his late mother, Diana, in the docuseries.
During the first episode of the series, Harry observed, “So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so close to my mom.” “She possesses the same empathy, compassion, and self-assurance. She exudes a pleasant atmosphere.”
Harry fears for Meghan’s life
Harry also suggests that Markle might experience the same fate as his mother, who perished in a vehicle accident while being pursued by the paparazzi.
Harry said, “I was scared of her being chased away by the media. This is not the first time Harry has made similar assertions; in the AppleTV+ show “The Me You Can’t See,” Meghan also made comparable comparisons.
Harry claimed during the program that history was repeating itself.
“My mother was in a relationship with a non-white person when she was hunted to death, and now look what’s occurred.
“You want to speak about history happening again? They won’t stop until [Meghan] passes away. The possibility of losing another woman in my life is tremendously upsetting, but the list is getting longer. The same personnel, the same business strategy, and the same sector are involved in everything.
Diana’s suicide attempts
Another similarity between the two women is how they both felt constrained by the stipulations of being a princess. In fact, the author of “Diana: Her True Story-in Her Own Words” Andrew Morton claims that the former princess attempted suicide five times.
The book’s contents claim that Diana’s first attempt occurred in January 1982 when she threw herself down the steps of Sandringham Palace.
In his book, Morton writes, “On another, she cut at her wrists with a razor blade.”
“Another time, following a furious disagreement with Charles, she grabbed up a penknife that was on her dressing table and slashed her chest and thighs. A third time, she cut herself with the serrated edge of a lemon slicer. Her husband mocked her despite the bleeding. Charles believed that she was fabricating her issues.”
Markle has also admitted that she contemplated about suicide during her brief time as a royal.
Markle admitted as much to Oprah Winfrey during their 2021 interview, “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”
“Actually, I was quite embarrassed to admit it at the time, especially to Harry since I know how much he has lost, but I knew that if I didn’t say it, I would do it. I simply didn’t want to live any longer.”
