As he nears the release of his sophomore solo album, Rocket Power, Quavo continues to elevate Takeoff’s legacy. Fans who have been waiting for a sequel to 2018’s Quavo Huncho can expect it this summer.
Quavo confirmed earlier this week to Insider that the album is dedicated to Takeoff. In an April 5 interview, he said, “I’m fueled by The Rocket,” referring to the late rapper’s nickname. A release date has yet to be announced. Without a doubt, hip-hop fans are still reeling from Takeoff’s tragic death. Only five months have passed since the Migos member was fatally shot at a private party in Houston, Texas, which also injured others.
Following the 28-year-old’s memorial service, Quavo released a heartfelt tribute. He referred to The Last Rocket emcee as his angel in it. In January, the bereaved lyricist poured his heart out in “Without You.” “I wish I had a time machine /Just so you could come along for the ride/ I miss how much you smile at me/ Unc and Phew until infinity,” he rapped.

However, music is only one way the 32-year-old is paying tribute to the late cultural trendsetter. Quavo returned to the stage in February for his first live performance since Takeoff’s tragic death at the Grammys.
His appearance was noticeably altered because he was wearing a mask that covered a portion of the right side of his face. That, too, turned out to be a nod to his nephew.
“It symbolizes the loss of my other half.” “Whenever I perform, I want to demonstrate that he is always with me,” he said. Huncho mentioned the mask in his most recent release, “Honey Bun,” rapping, “How can I come outside, without no mask on?” They want to see my emotions, and I’m not smiling.”
And, while his smiles have become rare, it was clear that joining his Praise This castmate for the world premiere on April 3 in Atlanta, Georgia, lifted his spirits. He plays Ty, the love interest of Chlo Bailey’s character, Sam, in the film, which is available on Peacock. See Quavo’s happy post below.
